So, the decision has been taken: even if it was going to rain or be a dark, foggy day, we, a fantastic group of 2 little girls, 3 adults and 3 dogs, would have climbed Mount Tezio (961m, about 40km from Podere Schioppello, in direction of Umbertide/Cesena).

Dunque, la decisione è stata presa: anche se fosse stata una giornata uggiosa, piena di nebbia, noi, fantastico gruppo di 2 bambine, 3 adulti e 3 cani, avremo 'scalato' il monte Tezio (961m, a circa 40km da Podere Schioppello, in direzione Umbertide/Cesena).

1. we chose one of the many possible routes to reach the summit, climbing the west side of the mountain, considering the 'cool' pace of the girls, we took about 50 minutes of steady  but not fast walk;

2. at the top, we had lunch with ' coppa' (home made sausage using ALL parts of pig meat, bought at the Butcher's shop Carni and Fantasia in Pietrafitta) and fresh bread (bakery shop Pioppi in Mantignana);

Each part of the track was characterized by a very specific and different landscape: in the first part, the wood has a prevalence of oak and elm trees, whose dark trunks were standing out in the fog;

Ogni parte di questa passeggiata è stata caratterizzata da un paesaggio molto diverso: 
nella prima parte, il bosco presentava una prevalenza di alberi di quercia e olmo, i cui tronchi scuri risaltavano nella nebbia;

in the second part, the summit was covered with meadow where a flock of cows and donkeys rested and from which one could see Umbria in all its Autumn colors;

nella seconda parte, la vetta era tappezzata di prato dove riposavano un gregge di mucche e asinelli e dalla quale si poteva intravedere l'Umbria in tutto il suo splendore di colori autunnali;

in the third part, choosing the north of the dorsal, crossing the paths lined with pine forests of different species of conifer, we discovered a 'neviera' - an artificial cave (could as well be natural) which was used in the old times, and where in winter was introduced and constipated snow covered with a layer of straw. The ice that was formed was used during the warmer seasons, transported downstream by donkeys, for hospitals and rich familes.

nella terza parte, costeggiando la dorsale nord, attraversando i sentieri costeggiati da pinete di diverse specie di conifere, abbiamo scoperto una 'neviera' - una grotta artificiale (nel passato potevano essere anche naturali) nella quale durante l'inverno veniva introdotta e costipata la neve, coperta da uno strato di paglia. Il ghiaccio che si formava, veniva usato durante le stagioni più calde, trasportato a valle a dorso di muli, veniva usato per ospedali e ceti più abbienti.

On a misty day of November, strolling along the paths of Mount Tezio, we had the feeling of being part of a fairy tale in which time and reality did not matter.

We were the mountain, as well as a small but important group of people, outside  space and time ...

In questa giornata nebbiosa, passeggiando per i sentieri del Monte Tezio, abbiamo avuto la sensazione di far parte di una favola nella quale il tempo e realtà non avevano importanza.

Eravamo la montagna, ma anche un piccolo ma importante gruppo di persone, al di fuori dal tempo e spazio...
